RE: Kids, seat belts, and Class A's. What's your opinion?

I don't like seatbelts and don't wear 'em much.
I do buckle up in bad weather or really scary traffic conditions...most of the time.
As for kids, I like 'em buckled up in the car.
In the MH, they keep their seats most of the time..no running around trivially.
Seatbelts when the traffic is heavy or the road is scary.

RE: Any pet-free RV parks?

when we checked out a couple of the campgrounds on Don Pedro Lake, east of Modesto, CA, they did not allow pets.
I don't know if they are federal or state campgrounds.

COE Campgrounds on Table Rock Lake, MO

Has anyone camped in any of the campgrounds at Table Rock?
Do they have 50amp elec?
Which ones have sites on or close to the water's edge?
Thanks

RE: Cutting Boards

I have a nice oak one and a small bamboo one, but I usually just pull out a paper plate and use that and throw it away. if I'm cutting different things like vegies and meats, I use a new paper plate for the vegies.
If I use the wood or bamboo ones for cutting meats, I wash them, then squirt them with some lemon juice and pat dry. The lemon juice is supposedly a good bacteria killer.

RE: Campground in Texas

there's a county rv park south of shamrock on 83, down on the salt fork of the red river. i'm pretty sure it has water, elec and a dump.
it's a nice little campground.

RE: Dutch Oven Beef Ribs Recipe Please UPDATED

this is how I do them at home in the oven:
lemon pepper and garlic powder for seasoning
broil the ribs close to the heat, all sides, quickly.
then cover with lid or aluminum foil and finish with low heat...275 to 300
for at least an hour.
so you could sear them in the DO with a little oil, then cover and finish with low heat.

RE: Yellowstone 9/20 - 9/23

we were there last year around the 16th of Sept.
the crowds were smaller, but still a lot of people there.
it just felt less packed.
parking was easier at the main sight centers.
but some of the campgrounds close in mid Sept.

RE: Spokane to Indiana to Eagle Pass, Texas..HELP!

take I-5 down to I-90 and east to Wisconsin where it runs into I-94, then south and east to Chicago and over to South Bend.
Drop south from South Bend to Indianapolis, then take I-70 west to St. Louis, I-44 to Oklahoma City, and stay on it to Wichita Falls, TX, then take 277 southwest to Eagle Pass.

RE: Defrosting refigerator.

oh, there is a drain tray inside the fridge (under the fins) that the water drips on and then flows down a tube that goes somewhere in the back of the fridge.. and then, I confess I don't know where it goes.. DH does the maintenance.
I do have to wipe out the freezer part.. it doesn't drain.

RE: Defrosting refigerator.

we don't have a tray underneath.
there is a drain tube that runs outside.
it wouldn't hurt to look at it occasionally to see if anything has plugged it up.

RE: East Yellowstone

there are some national forest campgrounds between Wapiti and Yellowstone's gate. Rex Hall is probably the best one.
But
there is a forest fire going on up that way, so at the very least, it will be smoky and smelly.
Buffalo Bill Cody State Park is about 10 miles east of Cody and is really very nice, water and dump, no elec. great views, etc.
but it might be smoky too.. from the wind blowing down the canyon.

RE: Big Bend National Park (SW Texas)

Big Bend Motor Inn and RV park is in Terlingua, not too far from the park. This is a pretty big park and can hold you no problem.
A bit closer to the park, about 2 miles from the other rv park, is Study Butte RV park, a little mom and pop outfit, no frills, but full hookups.

RE: fort collins to yellowstone

going from Rawlins will lead you over Togwotee Pass, which is not a bad way to go except last year they were building a new road up at the summit area and I don't know what shape it is in this year.. it wasn't all that bad last year.
both approaches are scenic, and you'll be climbing on both roads.
Stop in Dubois to get your final store of groceries before going into the park if you go that way.
the other way, through Jackson... there is a big Albertson's on the right as you're going into town.
